Progress continues for AMFAS

This is the year we move mountains and make a difference for our kids. Recently we passed the 300 fan mark of our Facebook page and continue to have new friends each day. If you know of other families who can benefit from this project, please invite them. Above all, please contribute to the conversation and comment.

Work on the American Military Families Autism Support main site is paying dividends. There are now 495 pages in the base resource being created. This Web 2.0 resource will provide great opportunities and a few challenges as we provide all available data a military family needs to help support their ASD family in a new location. Unfortunately, as military requirements replace time intended to work on this, the site has taken much longer than anticipated. It was originally supposed to launch in May 2009 during the Autism One conference, but again military and family requirements have prevented the team from accomplishing the mission.

Despite the setbacks and the ever-changing realities of balancing responsibilities, lack of Internet access and the ticking clock of helping our families, the work continues. It’s now over a year since this project began and it still has a long way to go. But it’s the work by military families, for military families that will help all of us in the future.
